tackling climate change on a local level

Be.Green

Carrying on the tradition of East London at the forefront of social action –
creating tomorrow’s climate change leaders

Tomorrow’s climate activists

Be.Green is a climate leadership programme run by Leaders in Community (LiC) that aims to educate and empower young people in Tower Hamlets to create local climate campaigns; and become young climate activists. It’s part of our response to the threats posed by climate change and a positive response

We are part of an exciting borough wide initiative, JustFACT, which brings together partners from across the borough to work towards a socially just food and climate transition.

Young people who are selected to be part of Be.Green are engaged in a series of projects and workshops from local changemakers and organisations who are working on innovative and inspiring climate projects. They will receive masterclasses led by experts on the subject of climate change, produce their own pieces of work advocating for climate change, engage with local residents in activities which contribute positively to the matter and create an event to demonstrate and raise awareness of climate change.

Our first cohort engaged in Be.Green since July 2021,  attended a range of exciting workshops and events, and made a trip to COP26! They also created a Zine which showcases local people’s views towards climate change and highlights some key issues, which you can check out here.
